President Cyril Ramaphosa has been notified of an incident in which Deputy Minister of health – Sibongiseni Dhlomo, attempted to grab a male researcher’s g_enitals at his home in Cape Town on 5 September.

Sunday Times newspaper reports that the incident happened after Dhlomo, who has been pestering the man since September to visit him, gave R500 to the man for petrol to come to his home.

The 33 year old man said he visited Dhlomo as part of his research into the soon to be launched National Health Insurance (NHI).

On arrival at Dhlomo’s home, he was greeted with a tight hug at which point he told Dhlomo that he was feeling uncomfortable. The man said Dhlomo then told him to sit on his bed and tried to grab his g_enitals.

He  fled the home and made a police report. He further reported the incident to Speaker of Parliament, Nosiviwe Mapisa Nqakula, who took the matter to Preside Cyril Ramaphosa.

Dhlomo admitted that he paid the man R500, but denied the allegations, saying instead that he had an argument after he stole a banana from his fruit basket.
