ENCA NEWS reported that alcohol and carbon monoxide has been ruled out as the cause of death for twenty-one teenagers who passed away at Enyobeni tavern in East London.

Police Minister Bheki Cele and Provincial authorities updated families on the progress of the investigation.

Authorities said they are now probing traces of methanol found on all the bodies of young people who lost their lives.

Litha Matiwane, from the Eastern Cape Health department said the methanol is used for cleaning and not for human consumption.

Police said the investigations will continue and they will be updating the country regarding the conclusion on the matter.
