ENCA NEWS reported that the Department of Basic Education in KwaZuluNatal will be taking disciplinary action against a Durban Phambili Secondary teacher.

The teacher is being accused of pointing a firearm at pupils. The department received numerous complaints from teachers and parents about the gun wielding teacher

The teacher allegedly pointed a gun to pupils as a scare tactic. Nkosinathi Ngcobo from the Basic Education department spoke to ENCA.

He said they got information from parents and learners that there was a lady teacher who was toting a gun at them in class.

The teacher has since been suspended pending an internal disciplinary that is going to take place.

Ngcobo said it is wrong to try to instill discipline to learners using a gun. The teacher has been pointing the gun to her colleagues aswell.

He added that schools are gun free zones therefore criminal charges maybe opened against her.
