City Press newspaper reported that Ukhozi FM suspended popular presenter Sipho Sgqemeza Mbatha for playing a song that was not scheduled on the playlist.
Mbatha played a song from his cellphone without any permission from his management. Playing songs from a cellphone at a radio station is regarded as an offence.
He was also suspended for missing important events booked by the station. Mbatha hosted the Vuka Africa breakfast show at Ukhozi FM.
Mbatha failed to avail himself at a booked event in Mpumalanga. The DJ has been accused of bringing the station into disrepute after a sangoma from Jozini, KZN went to the station looking for him.
The Sangoma allegedly paid him R25 000 last month but he did not show up for the gig. The Sangoma visited the station in Durban to demand his money.
Mbatha was suspended along with Babheke Mthethwa and Mandla Magwaza following an internal investigation.
