Senzo: Murder of a Soccer Star is premiering today on Netflix. Senzo Meyiwa was a South African professional football player.
He was a goalkeeper for Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates.
Senzo Meyiwa was shot dead in an attempted robbery at his girlfriend Kelly Khumalo’s house in Vosloorus.
The shooting happened on the 26th of October in 2014. Meyiwa was pronounced dead on arrival at a Johannesburg hospital.
Two years ago five suspects were arrested in connection with the late goal keeper’s murder. They all denied being involved in the killing.
The mini documentary will feature interviews with Sportscaster Robert Marawa, former head of Hawks Shadrack Sibiya, Advocate Gerrie Nel and Senzo Meyiwa’s family.
The series has a goal to unpack the truth behind the murder of the goalkeeper.
