A Thembisa woman said she has been locked up in a room by her boyfriend, Butana Mlotshwa, since October 2021.
The woman said she has been locked up in the room since she arrived at the house. She said she has not bathed since January and has not changed her clothes.

She said her boyfriend beat her up with an iron bar and broke her legs and she has not been able to walk for months. Her nails are now log and she is now unable to see as she is always in a dark room.
The woman, who is originally from Nelspruit, said all she wants is to go back home. She said she is afraid to go back home because her family has warned her against living with Mlotshwa since she started dating him five years ago.
