Vodcom appeals Nkosana Makate ruling

Vodcom has announced that they will be appealing the court victory by ‘Please call me’ inventor, Nkosana Makate.

The cellphone giant has filed a 26 page application for to appeal with the court in which they argued that the calculations made by Vodacom CEO, Shameel Joosub offering Makate R47 million was overly generous.

Vodacom also argued that the judge made certain errors at law.

Vodacom said it was not up to the court to say if the calculation was correct or not.

Makate said he will oppose the application by Vodacom.

Vodacom want their appeal to be heard by the Supreme Court of appeal or by a full bench made up of three high court judges.

The leave to appeal application will be heard in April.
