Former Metro FM veteran Grant Shakoane has passed away. The radio fraternity and fans are devastated and in mourning following Shakoane’s death.

His death was confirmed by radio veteran and close friend Wilson B. Nkosi. The cause of Grant’s death was not immediately revealed but radio personality Tim Modise said Shakoane was in a serious and suffering an unknown condition at a Johannesburg hospital.

Modise who was saddened by Grant’s death paid heartfelt tribute to his close friend and offered condolences to the Shakoane family.

This sad news shocked the whole of South Africa with fans flooding social media with tributes to the late Shakoane.

Sports broadcaster, Robert Marawa said Shakoane’s death was a sad moment and an emotional time as he was deeply loved and appreciated by many.

Shakoane joined Metro FM in the 1980s, he also hosted a show on Vuma FM. His journey started at SABC where he worked as a translator.
