The most wanted South African serial rapist, who has been on the run for over 9 years, was caught this week after he returned to one of his victim’s houses to rape her for the second time.

The Sowetan Newspaper reports that Nkosinathi Phakade would pose as a municipal meter reader or delivery man, before raping women at their homes.

Phakade used this tactic to rape over 68 women, including a 12 year old.

Two weeks ago, a woman in Barcelona, eTwatwa, recognized Phakade as the man who had raped her 2 years ago. When he arrived at her home she called the police who launched a manhunt.

Police found Phakade the next morning and gave chase. He was caught and sustained a gun shot wound to his leg during the arrest.

He is currently in hospital and will appear in court on 29 April after DNA test results are out.
