South Africa’s Covid-19 rollout plan is going ahead as planned as the first batch of doses is expected to land at OR Tambo International Airport.

One million doses are expected to arrive this afternoon. The cases in the country continue to deep significantly. The country recorded less than 5000 cases and 213 deaths yesterday.

The AstraZeneca vaccine left India over the weekend. President Cyril Ramaphosa will receive the consignment, his deputy David Mabuza and health minister Dr Zweli Mkhize will be there as well.

The vaccine is set to be administered to the 1.2 million frontline health workers. South Africa is the hardest hit by Covid-19 in Africa.

The virus has been wrecking havoc in South Africa. There is over 391 health workers who have died from Coronavirus.

The vaccine is coming at a time when some top officials in the country have shown mistrust of the vaccine with Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng being one of them.
