Popular YouTuber and podcast host, MacGyver Mukwevho (McG), yesterday lost Old Mutual, the main sponsor for his YouTube channel , over comments he made about transgender women.
In a statement released yesterday, Old mutual said:
As a responsible business that respects the rights of everyone, we have decided to terminate the relationship with McG, with immediate effect.
After the uproar began, McG and Sol were unapologetic, jocking that they were not subject to regulation, as seen in the video below.
In the episode that caused the uproar, McG and co-host Sol Phenduka were engaged in a discussion about public figures who have dated tranz women when Phenduka used the words Sh_emale and woman with a d_ick.
Mukhwevho and Sol continued to use the terms and laughing.
Popular transgender woman and activist, Yaya Mavundla, told the Sowetan Newspaper that she is hurt by McG’s comments.
Yaya urged other brands associated with McG to act.
