Johannesburg controversial self proclaimed prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife Mary fled South Africa for Malawi through one of the borders after allegedly bribing Home Affairs Officials.

This came after the Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera was accused of trying to smuggle out about 30 people who are believed to be members of his advanced team that arrived in South Africa first.

His jet was grounded for hours at Waterkloof airbase after a problem with his suspicious passengers. A source revealed that Bushiri was one of those passengers.

A statement from the Malawian government said Bushiri was not in the Presidential plane. It also said Chakwera will only involve himself in the matter if the South African government writes a letter to him.

South Africa has so far engaged the Zimbabwean and Lesotho governments to check if Bushiri and his wife have not used their countries to escape.

It appears the couple fled the country on Wednesday last week undetected and failed to present themselves at their local police station as per their bail conditions on Friday.
