Visual Artist Percy Maimela Gets International Recognition In The Guinness World Records

South African visual Artist Percy Maimela is a Guinness World Record holder after creating the largest ground coffee mosaic in the world.

He created a picture of DJ Black Coffee using nothing but coffee grains. Due to Covid-19 Percy Maimela has started exhibiting his works online.

Maimela said this was a blessing in disguise because they are no longer forced to take their visual work to a gallery that is overseas as their work can be viewed online.

He also said by creating Dj Black Coffee’s mosaic using only coffee grains he was trying to prove that anything can be used to create art.

Maimela added that his art works were inspired by the African history and were based on the South African way of life.

He has done several art works using beach sand and sand around his home. Percy Maimela has worked on former South African leaders using only sand.
