Jacob Zuma is the former President of South Africa who ruled the country from 2009 to 2018 when he was forced to resign.

He also served as the president of African National Congress (ANC). His presidency was controversial as it was associated with graft allegations.

He is known to be a polygamous man with several wives and over twenty children. He was born on 12 April 1942 in Inkandla in KwaZulu-Natal. His clan name is Msholozi.

Zuma did not get any formal education because of his background. His father was a policeman during World War two and he died when Zuma was still five years old.

He taught himself how to read and write in Zulu. He also learnt to speak Xhosa, English, French and Swahili. He trained in thr Soviet Union now Russia. Zuma joined ANC when he was just 17 years old. He also joined Umkhonto Wesizwe in 1962.

In 1963 he was arrested along with 45 ANC recruits and was sentenced to ten years imprisonment at Robben Island. Zuma was with Nelson Mandela who had been sentenced to life in prison.

In 1987 he was forced to leave Mozambique and relocated to Lusaka. During his presidency he was known for improvements in the health sector.

Jacob Zuma is also a businessman with investments in different sectors. He owns of chain of supermarkets, a fashion line and a football team.

He owns a lavish house in INkandla in which he spent millions on its renovations.

He is rumoured to be owning a Dubai house bought for him by the Gupta brothers. Zuma is one of the richest in the country with a convoy of expensive cars.
