Platinum award winning artist, Lira, joined Afternoon Express to share her thoughts on the music industry, and it’s standards for the modern woman.

She also discussed her career, where it is going, what is going on and what to expect moving forward.

Lira said she was priviledged and proud to be South African considering the support she gets from her home country.

At the age of seven, Lira realised that music brought unity and peace in her family. Thus when she writes music she wants people to gather around and get lost in it.

Lira’s career highlights are when she performed for Barack Obama and the late Nelson Mandela who are both the first black presidents of America and South Africa respectively.

She has been in the music industry since 2001 thus she is internationally recognised. She added that she has been working with American producers on her upcoming album. This album will be Afro-American.
