Sho Madjozi’s real name is Maya Christinah Xichavo Wegerif. She is a South African rapper, actress, song writer and poetess.

She was born in 1992 in a village in Limpopo province. Her mother Rosemary Phaweni is completely African while her father Marc Wegerif is of European decent.

She was raised by her mother after her parents divorced, however she travelled with her father in Tanzania and Senegal.

After finishing her Matric she was awarded a scholarship to study in America. From America she went to UNISA in Johannesburg thus when she started rapping under the name Sho Madjozi.

Madjozi rose to fame after her collaboration with rapper Okmalumkoolkat. In April 2017 she made her debut in South Africa’s Mzansi Magic telenovela Isithembiso.

Sho is proud of her Tsonga culture thus she performs and dresses in Tsonga. Her debut song Dumi Hi Phone was released in 2017 and Huku in 2018.

She performed at the Global Citizen Festival Mandela 100 which was headlined by Beyonce and Jay-Z. She also released her debut album Limpopo Champions League in 2018.

In 2019, Madjozi won the best female afro and best new comer of the year awards. She also received best new act award from BET.

Inspired by wrestler John Cena she released a song titled John Cena which reached 2million views in a short space of time.
