King Buyelekhaya Zwelibanzi Dalindyebo was arrested at the Bumbane Great Place outside Mthatha in Eastern Cape. This comes after an alleged attack on the palace on Friday.

His son and acting King, Prince Azenathi Dalindyebo are believed to be among the assaulted. SABC reporter Lwandile Mbulali reported that the acting King’s wife was also assaulted and has been admitted to hospital for injuries that she sustained during the attack.

The spokesperson of the palace, Prince Skeneko narrated the sequence of the incident. He said at around 2 to 3 am, the King descended to the palace carrying weapons like an axe, a machete and crowbar. He managed to break the window from the sitting room of the main house , got access into the house and people started waking up as they heard there was a commotion.

Skeneko said Zwelindyebo moved up the stairs looking for the acting King but he managed to escape through the window. He further explained that it was clear that Zwelibanzi was there to attack the acting King as he was busy swearing at him.

King Dalindyebo was released on parole in December 2019 after spending four years at the East London Correctional facility.

Chief Dumisani Mgudlwa said they tried to send some people to ask Zwelibanzi to meet up with elders of family so they sort out some differences on what transpired before.
