On Tuesday, the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) froze R76.5 million worth of assets belonging to businessman Siyabonga Moses Goodwill Nkosi — husband of influencer Leleti Nkosi (real name Suzan Mbonambi).

The frozen assets include:

  • 17 prime properties in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, and Mpumalanga

  • 7 luxury cars (Lamborghinis, Porsche Cayennes, Panameras, Mercedes-Benz)

Authorities say the money came from shady contracts at Eskom’s Kusile and Matla power stations between 2021 and 2023. Nearly R74 million in public funds was allegedly stolen while South Africa faced constant power cuts.

Leleti, who has hundreds of thousands of followers on TikTok and Instagram, built her brand on showing off — mansions, farms, trips to the Maldives and Europe, a horse gifted for Christmas, and fancy cars.

The internet quickly turned on her. Some comments:

  • “Turns out most of us aren’t poor, we’re just not corrupt.”

  • “She gave ‘old money’ but it was actually Eskom’s money.”

  • “I’ve learned not to envy people’s lives.”

Fans noticed Leleti started deleting old luxury car posts (but screenshots last forever). One post even pointed out the SIU didn’t freeze her newest cars.

Siyabonga Nkosi is linked to the assets personally and through family trusts. The freeze is part of a larger corruption investigation into Eskom.

For years, Leleti showed off the “soft life” — traditional wedding, dance videos, glamorous couple posts. Now the same platforms are roasting her.

Will she go quiet, switch to humble content, or fight back? Either way, her glamorous image has hit a blackout.
