July–October 2020: Stepped aside as MMC after allegations of conflict of interest in a R125 million COVID-19 PPE tender awarded by the Gauteng Department of Health (then headed by her husband Bandile Masuku) to a company linked to presidential spokesperson Khusela Diko.
Special Investigating Unit (SIU) and ANC Gauteng PEC investigations cleared her of any wrongdoing, finding no evidence she influenced the tender or benefited financially.
2025: Opposition parties (ActionSA, DA) criticised her appointment as Finance MMC, claiming she lacked sufficient financial qualifications and that the post was a political reward.
