
One suspect shot dead, one arrested as police were chasing fugitive Jabulani Moyo in Cosmo City, for the murder of two detectives in Roodepoort in August this year.
A police statements reads:
#sapsGP One suspect was fatally wounded and the second suspect arrested in Cosmo City, Johannesburg District, as police were chasing suspects that include Jabulani Moyo who is wanted for escaping from lawful custody and the murder of two police officers in Roodepoort in August this year. Police recovered two unlicensed firearms, an AK-47 rifle and pistol, with ammunition. A search for the suspects who fled the scene, including Moyo, is underway. NP
Jabulani Moyo is a fugitive wanted by the South African Police Service (SAPS) in connection with the murder of two police detectives in Roodepoort, Gauteng, on August 8, 2025. He is considered armed and dangerous, and a massive manhunt is currently underway.
Moyo, a Zimbabwean national and awaiting-trial prisoner, was being transported back to the Boksburg Correctional Services from the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court when he allegedly shot and killed the two detectives and stole their firearms.
A high-stakes police operation to apprehend him is ongoing, with one recent operation in Cosmo City turning deadly on November 15, 2025, resulting in one death and one arrest, though Moyo is still at large.
The SAPS is offering a R150,000 cash reward for any information leading to his arrest.
The National Police Commissioner, General Fannie Masemola, has urged the public not to shelter Moyo and to provide any information via Crime Stop (08600 10111) or the MySAPS app.
