Who is Ze Nxumalo?

Ze Nxumalo is a prominent South African businessman and entrepreneur who was recently named during testimony at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry. He is married to former Miss SA and Miss Universe first runner-up Tamaryn Green.

• Witness A claimed that a police intelligence chief had identified Nxumalo as being connected to alleged drug cartel member Katiso “KT” Molefe.
• It was further alleged that Nxumalo is a close friend of EFF leader Julius Malema, who is, in turn, allegedly close to suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya.
• The testimony suggested a chain of connections, but Witness A did not provide additional details.
• Despite these allegations, Nxumalo has not been formally charged with any crime. 

• Ride-sharing: When Uber launched in South Africa, Nxumalo bought vehicles and employed drivers, establishing an early business foothold in the new market.
• Minibus taxis: His success led to a position as an independent advisor to SA Taxi, the largest minibus taxi finance provider in the country. In this capacity, he has served as a lead negotiator on government relations and during taxi strikes.
• Other ventures: He holds stakes in other businesses through his investment company, ZIG Holdings.
• Empowerment platforms: He also launched Mobalyz, a platform focused on mentoring young South Africans and providing them with digital tools.

• This came after Khawula posted accusations of fraud and infidelity against Nxumalo on social media.
• The complaint led to Khawula’s arrest, which was unrelated to the murder case he was already facing in the Free State.

• In 2022, Nxumalo married former Miss South Africa Tamaryn Green.
• The couple welcomed their first child in February 2025.
