The house of Lt. Gen. Shadrack Sibiya was today searched by a team from KZN PKTT.
During the search, authorities seized electronic devices, specifically one laptop and three cellphones belonging to Sibiya. These items were taken as part of the investigation into allegations of corruption and criminal infiltration within the South African Police Service.

  • Sibiya said: “General Mkhwanazi said yesterday that [arrest] is imminent. There has been imminence since last year, so I am still waiting.”
  • Sibiya said: “They came to conduct a search and seizure.”
  • Sibiya said: “They normally look for the gadgets and cell phones of everybody who is in the yard.”
  • Sibiya said: “The guys were decent. They are cooperative, still respecting me, and everything happens under normal circumstances, especially when you cooperate with them.”
  • Sibiya said: “So they aren’t really all out to fight.”
  • Sibiya said: “From the point that the task force arrived, [we gave] the police a chance to do what they [wanted].”
  • Sibiya said: “I was not around but called and came.”
  • Sibiya said: “It will be determined by [a] judge in court in due course. I’ve got my reservations but don’t want to preempt anything.”
  • Sibiya said: “But first of all, thank you to the journalists being here.”
  • Sibiya said: “I can see quite clearly that [you are] not intimidated by what is going to be a call from a very famous person now today for journalists to counter surveillance.”
