The Free State High Court in Bloemfontein postponed the trial of convicted murderer and rapist Thabo Bester and his co-accused, including doctor Nandipha Magudumana, to December 5, 2025, to allow Magudumana’s Constitutional Court appeal on her 2023 extradition from Tanzania to proceed.
Nandipha appeared in court in leg irons.
Bester, serving a life sentence, faces charges with Magudumana and seven others for his 2022 escape from Mangaung Correctional Centre, which involved faking his death using a decoy body, arson, fraud, and corruption with prison officials and accomplices like Magudumana’s father Zolile Sekeleni.
During the hearing, Bester switched legal teams for the fourth time and raised concerns over limited lawyer consultations, drawing judicial warnings against further delays.
