Following the public uproar sparked by Queen Nandi’s emotional Facebook post about being evicted from her Sandton apartment, her landlady has come forward to clarify the circumstances surrounding the situation.

In an exclusive interview, the landlady, who asked to remain anonymous for legal reasons, said she was compelled to speak out after receiving backlash and threats from members of the public.

“I have been painted as cruel and heartless,” she said. “But the truth is, this decision wasn’t made lightly. I gave Queen Nandi multiple chances to resolve the matter amicably.”

According to the landlady, the dispute arose over unpaid rent and several lease violations, including unauthorized renovations and frequent late-night disturbances allegedly reported by neighbors. “There were months where no rent was paid, and despite several written notices and attempts to negotiate a payment plan, the situation only deteriorated.”

The landlady claims that Queen Nandi’s celebrity status made enforcement difficult. “Any action I tried to take was met with social media threats or silence. I followed due legal processes, including issuing notice and applying for an eviction order through the courts.”

She added that she was “deeply saddened” by the online attacks. “This isn’t about status or trying to humiliate anyone—it’s about fairness and protecting my property rights. Everyone deserves a roof over their head, but landlords also deserve to be respected and paid.”

When asked if there was a chance to reconcile, she said, “I’m always open to respectful dialogue. But for now, I need to move forward.”

As social media continues to debate who is right or wrong, the story serves as a reminder of the delicate balance between tenants and landlords—and the power of online platforms to sway public opinion.

Neither Queen Nandi nor her representatives have responded to the landlady’s claims at the time of publication.
