Former Public Protector Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane has been sworn in as a Member of Parliament for the Economic Freedom Fighters Party.

Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane, announced her decision to join EFF on the 16th of October 2023.

She said she would serve the Party and follow its Constitution and guidelines and that she did not join to get revenge or any political position.

Mkhwebane is at odds with the African National Congress (ANC) following, her suspension by President Cyril Ramaphosa.

She found solace from the EFF who accused Ramaphosa of abusing the Constitution by suspending Mkhwebane.

She was suspended at a time when she had started investigations into the Phala Phala Farm saga.

Millions of undisclosed foreign currency, stashed in mattresses and sofas was stolen from President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala Farm.

The matter was never reported to the police until it was disclosed by former Spy boss Arthur Fraser.
