The Gauteng department of education has confirmed that there is no existing record of a National Senior Certificate or Matric Certificate for Matthew Lani.
In addition, The Gauteng Health department opened a case against bogus Doctor Matthew Lani. The department opened a case of impersonating a medical doctor.
Lani used the name of Dr Sanele Zingelwa, who is a second year medical intern at Tembisa Provincial Tertiary Hospital.
The real Dr Sanele Sobani Vambani Zingelwa has since opened a case of identity fraud at the Tembisa Police station.
Cambridge International College and Wits University issued statements saying Lani was lying that he was studying at either of the institutions.
