Transport woes in the City of Cape Town will continue until 9 August 2023. The South African National Taxi Council immediately called for a strike in the Western Cape last week.

The association said the suspension was due to the Western Cape government’s ill-treatment of the taxi industry.

Scores of people were left stranded at pick-up points last week as there were no taxis to ferry them to school, work and back home.

Vehicles which were picking up passengers were being attacked using rocks. Below is a statement from SANTACO.
