Johannesburg Roads Chief Executive Officer Tshepo Mahanuke has been fired from a R3m top job over fake educational qualifications.
Mahanuke was fired after it was discovered that he falsified his qualifications to land the lucrative R3.5 million a year job.
Tshepo Mahanuke was fired as Joburg Road Agency CEO on Wednesday after he was initially suspended in November last year after questions arose about his qualifications.
The now fired CEO presented several qualifications which included a purported Harvard Master’s degree.
It was reported that, Mahanuke insisted on being referred to as ‘Doctor’ by senior JRA staff after he took office in August last year.
Mahanuke is said to have bought an honorary doctorate from the Trinity International University of Ambassadors and that his Master’s degree in competitive intelligence from ACI College was not actually offered at Harvard.
Back in 2022, the Johannesburg Road Agency said it had vetted Mahanuke and other shortlisted candidates through an unnamed agency.
In 2022, Mpho Phalatse, former Joburg Mayor ordered an urgent report into allegations that Mahanuke had falsified his qualifications to land the lucrative job.
Phumla Majola, who is the Johannesburg Road Agency Secretary, confirmed that Mahanuke was fired.
