Police in Durban have confirmed rapper Kiernon ‘AKA’ Forbes was shot dead in a drive-by shooting on Florida Road Durban on Friday night.
Another person believed to be AKA’s bodyguard, was also wounded, while another unidentified person, who is understood to be a close friend of AKA, was also shot dead.
It is understood that AKA was standing outside the Wish Restaurant when he was gunned down in a drive-by shooting.
Two unknown cars are believed to have opened fire on the rapper. Several police sources confirmed that the rapper AKA had been shot dead.
The shooting happened around 10 pm Friday night
Cause of the incident is not yet known although witnesses say that an altercation broke out before firearms were discharged.
Shortly thereafter, Media reports revealed that AKA was being investigated for possible violence and abuse linked to the death.
However, no charges were pressed and AKA was never named as a suspect.
Shortly thereafter, AKA started dating female rapper, Nadia Nakai.
Forbes was born in 1988. In 2002, Forbes formed a hip-hop group called Entity with two of his friends, Vice Versa and Greyhound.
