SABC NEWS reported that defence lawyer Advocate Malesela Teffo said a witness will testify that Senzo Meyiwa’s then girlfriend Kelly Khumalo mistakenly shot the soccer star.
Teffo is representing four of the five men accused of killing Senzo Meyiwa at Kelly Khumalo’s mother’s house in Vosloorus.
Kelly Khumalo a local songstress was dating the late Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper at the time.
Teffo said the witness will testify that Kelly Khumalo mistakenly shot Senzo Meyiwa using Longwe Twala’s revolver.
Twala was one of the seven people who were at Kelly Khumalo’s house on the evening of the 24th October 2014 when the incident took place.
Teffo also contradicted the state’s version of events, stating that Meyiwa had died before he was taken to the hospital.
