Sowetan newspaper reports that the family of the late rapper Nkululeko Flabba Habedi has forgiven the person who killed their son.

Flabba was killed by his girlfriend Sindisiwe Manqele in March 2015. She stabbed him in the chest after an altercation at his home in Johannesburg.

Sindisiwe Manqele was released on parole yesterday after serving only six years of her 12 year prison sentence.

Flabba’s family told the publication that they have moved on and have forgiven the killer. The family said dwelling on the past will only take them backwards.

Flabba’s death left South Africans angered and they wanted a harsher sentence on Manqele. The late rapper was a member of hit making hip-hop group Skwatta Kamp.

Correctional Services spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo said the decision was taken by the correctional supervision and parole board after assessing Manqele’s profile.
