Newzroom Afrika has reported that Brigadier Philani Ndlovu, a key witness in the late soccer star Senzo Meyiwa’s murder case has passed away.
His death comes just two weeks before taking the stand. There are reports that the brigadier was killed.
Ndlovu was supposed to come to Gauteng on Sunday to meet up with his lawyers. It is believed that he was executed in a mafia style.
The brigadier who died on Wednesday is believed to be one of the first officers to arrive at the murder scene in Voosloorus where the football star was shot dead.
His death brings in more controversy into the trial which has been going on for years. Some reports say the brigadier fell ill on Tuesday and then died on Wednesday.
Advocate Malesela Teffo who is representing accused one to four in the Senzo Meyiwa trial had indicated to the court that he will be calling Philani Ndlovu to the stand.
