Nomaqoqwa Blackie died of hunger in Shanghai lockdown

It has been revealed that a South African English teacher,  Nomaqoqwa Blackie (29), who died alone in her Shanghai flat on 18 April, died of hunger during the city wide hard lockdown.

Multiple reports from Shanghai have revealed that immigrants are not receiving food parcels.

While other embassies have been assisting their citizens in Shanghai, South Africa has not provided help to their citizens.

Shanghai has been under a hard lockdown for the past 28 days.

There is no one at the South African embassy offices, as staff and their families are also being kept at their houses.
