Florence Mkhize was an anti-Apartheid activist and women’s movement leader. Mkhize was also involved in trade unions in South Africa.

She passed away in 1999, she died of congestive heart failure on 10 July. Durban’s City Centre Municipal offices were renamed in her honour.

Florence had four children and one of them is businesswoman Shauwn Mkhize.

She took to her Instagram page to share photos of a memorial service held by the ANC Women’s League in honour of her mother.
