President Cyril Ramaphosa has declared a State of National Disaster in the wake of devastating floods that wrecked havoc in Durban and parts of KwaZuluNatal.

This was after his cabinet met to discuss how they could respond to the floods in KwaZuluNatal Province.

Heavy rains left a trail of destruction, and killed hundreds while thousands were left homeless.

Electric poles were washed away and water pipes destroyed leaving thousands in desperate need of basics.

The Minister of Cooperative Governence and Traditional Affairs Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma has been mandated to gazette National disaster.
