President Cyril Ramaphosa has condemned identity or citizenship verification as being so Apartheid.

The President said South Africa is a democracy thus the rights of everyone in the country must be respected.

He said the way of going around asking for verification cards reminded him of Apartheid days in South Africa.

He however commended the Minister of Police Bheki Cele and Minister of Home Affairs Aaron Motsoaledi for calming down the situation in Diepsloot.
