President Cyril Ramaphosa has officially lifted the National State of Disaster. This after South Africa had been under the National State of Disaster for over 740 days.

All regulations made in terms of the Disaster Management Act were done away with at midnight last night.

Certain regulations will remain for 30 days to enable post disaster recovery and rehabilitation aswell as ensuring public health precautions.

However citizens are still required to wear face masks in an indoor public space. Masks are not required when outdoors.

Both indoor and outdoor venues must only take up to 50 percent of their capacity without any maximum limit, provided there is proof of vaccination.

The President urged the public to get vaccinated and to continue being cautious aswell. Different organisations welcomed the move to end the State of Disaster.
