Actress Natasha Thahane is trending again on Twitter following Sibongile Mani’s sentencing. Mani was sentenced to 5 years in prison for theft.

In 2017, Mani, a Walter Sisulu University student received R14 million in her bank account following a technical glitch.

The money was sent by the National Student Financial Aid Scheme. She was supposed to receive only R1.400. Mani went on to spend R800 000 on a luxurious lifestyle.

Several South Africans are against the sentencing and they want the mother of two freed and Natasha Thahane to be investigated.

They also want politicians who were accused of misusing public funds to be arrested aswell. They argued that Natasha Thahane spent a million thus she must be arrested.

Natasha revealed on Podcast and Chill with MacG that she received R1 million from the Department of Arts and culture.

She said Baleka Mbethe helped her to get the funds that she used to further her studies abroad. Thahane later said she was taken out of context.
