Caster Semenya to complete in Cape Town 3000m race

Caster Semenya (31) will this week compete in the 3000m race in Cape Town on Wednesday.

Her Agent, Lee-Roy Newton, told the Sunday Times Newspaper that Semenya will try to beat Zola Budd’s 31 year old 2000m record of 5min38.07sec.

Semenya is now running 30m races to avoid taking testostorene lowering medication.

The World athletics federation has implemented new gender eligibility rules which cover events between 400m and 1500m.

Semenya failed to qualify for the 5000m race at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 as she did not achieve the qualification time.
