Friday, 29 May 2026 – He is at Hazelmere Dam (north of Durban) with family and friends for a birthday outing. Strong winds cause a jet ski to drift away. Tony enters the water to retrieve it, disappears beneath the surface, and does not come back up. He is presumed drowned.
A search and rescue operation begins the same day but is later called off due to bad weather. -
Saturday, 30 May 2026 – The search resumes in the morning.
