Norman ‘Afzal’ Simons has been released after spening 28 years in jail.

Simons was linked to the murder of 22 victims of the station strangler in 1994. All the victims were boys aged between 3 and 14, who were r-aped and strangled.

The conviction of Simons was complicated because it was based on witness testimony, an id parade and a confession that he later retracted.

In 2006, DNA tests on six of the victims did not match Simons.
