US Ambassador to South Africa- “I Meant What I Said, I only Apologised For The Way I Said It”

Last week the US Ambassador to South Africa Reuben Brigety made some damning allegations against South Africa.

He claimed that South Africa had supplied Russia with weapons in its ongoing war with Ukraine. He later apologised after meeting Foreign Affairs Minister Naledi Pandor.

Brigety said he would bet on his life that a Russian vessel Lady R left Simon’s Town in South Africa loaded with war arms in December 2022.

The ambassador has clarified his apology saying he only apologised for the way he said it but he meant what he said.
