Mpho Phalatse Removed As Mayor of Johannesburg

Councillors in the City of Johannesburg have voted to have a motion of no confidence against Johannesburg Mayor Mpho Phalatse tabled and voted on.

Of the 270 councillors in council 139 councillors voted to have the motion tabled and voted on.

The DA and it’s coalition partners instead asked for a caucus break which council Speaker Collen Makhubele did not grant.

This comes as Mayor Phalatse has filed an  urgent court application to have the meeting declared unlawful.
