Former Tshwane Mayor, Gwen Ramakgopa has lost R5, 7 million in an investment deal goal gone wrong.

Ramakgopa is the former Gauteng Health MEC and Tswane mayor.

According to court papers at the Joburg High Court , Ramakgopa invested R5 million with Brentwood Capital and Equity partners in 2019 and was supposed to get her money and interest in January 2020.

In January 2020, when Ramakgopa asked for her money back with the agreed interest of R750 000, Brentwood representatives told her that they needed to submit documents to SARS in order for her to be paid.

However, no payment were made into her account.

In April 2020, Ramakgopa and Brentwood entered an agreement in which Brentwood acknowledged the debt. All amounts were to be paid by 11 May 2021.

However, no payment was made on that date.
