Thousands of maidens have started to present their reeds to AmaZulu King Misuzulu KaZwelithini.
The event was held at Emabocheni Palace at Ingwavuma in Northern KwaZulu-Natal.
The traditional ceremony known as the Reed Dance or Umkhozi Womhlanga is a celebration of Zulu culture.
The event also honours the nation’s virgin maidens.
It is King Misuzulu KaZwelithini’s first official event after recently performing the ‘entering the kraal’ ritual which signified his coronation in the Zulu tradition.
