Each year on the 4th of July Americans celebrate independence day with festivities ranging from fireworks, family gatherings, parades and barbeques.

The day commemorates the passage of the declaration of independence and has been a federal holiday in the United States of America.

Independence celebrations can be traced back to the 18th century on the 2nd of July 1776, the continental congress voted in favour of independence.

Two days later 13 colonies claimed independence from England which ultimately led to the formation of the United States.
