ENCA NEWS reported that a case involving a former mineral resources deputy director general has been postponed.

Joel Raphela is accused of a raft of charges including fraud, forgery, uttering, perjury and money laundering.

The charges are related to the squandering of over R100 million funds meant for Optimum Coal mine and Koornfontein Mine rehabilitation.

The mine was owned by the Gupta family and these Gupta associates also face charges of fraud, forgery and money laundering.

The matter was heard at the Randburg Magistrate Court and it will soon be transferred to a High Court.
