ENCA NEWS reported that Belgium has handed over the remains of the late African hero Patrice Lumumba.

Lumumba was the first Black Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo. DRC has declared three days of national mourning from the 27th to the 30th of June.

Citizens of the Democratic Republic of Congo are celebrating. They have been waiting for this moment for atleast 60 years.

The Congolese see Lumumba as an African liberation hero just like Kwame Nkrumah, Julius Nyerere, Robert Mugabe and more.

They also thanked their President Felix Tshisekedi for facilitating the return of Lumumba’s remains.

Lumumba was shot by the firing squad, his body was buried and exhumed. It was buried and exhumed again, this time the remains were put in acid.

All that is left to give his family was the tooth. Military parades and prayers will characterize the three days of mourning and celebrations.
