State Capture masterminds Atul and Rajesh Gupta were reportedly arrested in Dubai, United Arab Emirates not so long ago.

Specialist Legal Reporter Karyn Maughan who visited Dubai told News24 that the brothers remain in custody.

She however said it’s unclear where exactly they are being kept. She said one of the Emirati lawyers whom she spoke to said the brothers were being kept at a police station.

Karyn added that the lawyer further indicated that it takes three months at times to bring a bail application forward in that country.

The public prosecutor will determine how the process ensues. The Gupta brothers are wanted in South Africa on charges of money laundering and fraud.

They are also being accused of State Capture, where they influenced former President Jacob Zuma’s decisions including appointments of cabinet ministers.
