Gayton McKenzie was elected Mayor of Central Karoo District Municipality not more than three months ago and already he is bringing change to the area.
SABC NEWS reported that one of the Mayor’s acts is to eradicate the bucket system. The area has had its own fair share of political instability.
Service delivery seems to be Gayton McKenzie’s top priority. The largest town and the economic hub in the region, Beaufort West has been plagued by service delivery issues.
It has also been battling fraud, corruption and maladministration amongst its politicians.
Over R2 million was given to the municipality in 2014 for the construction of toilets, only 42 were built.
McKenzie who is a member of the Democratic Alliance has vowed to fix the town and the rest of the Central Karoo.
